Every year, the Otago Racing Club hosts the Wingatui Horse Races in Mosgiel on the outskirts of Dunedin. Thoroughbred racing was established in Otago during the Gold Rush era when the area was a center for wealth. Racing was shifted to the Wingatui Racecourse in 1899 and has been held there ever since. It's a beautiful location on the Taieri Plains, but unfortunately we had a rainy day for our racetrack outing.
